Default Replacing The Convertible Top

I was walking around my garage today admiring my convertible when the thought hit me: Can the PT Cruiser's convertible top be replaced?
Have guys done it themselves? A costly thing to have to do?
Any feed back to my thoughts will be appreciated. Thank You.

Haven't read of anyone on any PT Forum having to have to replace their convertible top, but of course it can be replaced...

You haven't been looking at some of the cruisers with some holes in their tops. I'll not mention a prominent one here. Don't want to draw attention to it for the owners sake. He might not want to call attention to it.

He repaired his top, didn't replace it.

If you can call it that. No he didn't replace it. But patch jobs never look good. But you made it sound as if no one ever needed too. That was my point. The link is to a complete new top and is a bolt on. Looks to bolt to the lift mechanism. This is as cheep as it gets for a completely oem top.

You want to argue, I don't.
He asked if anyone has replaced theirs by themselves, and I said I had never read of anyone replacing their top.

Thanks for your response to my questions about replacing the convertible top.
Perhaps I missed something, but is there a link I can connect to that would discuss or show how to replace a top? When the time comes I would like to attempt it myself. Again I thank you for your guidance.

Look at the link that I gave you and see the pictures of the unit. Appears to be a few bolts to connect the entire top to the PT. If you by a replacement top. Meaning with out the frame. You're going to have to get it done by someone in an upholstery shop. Look on the area of the storage compartment on yours and see what is involved in the hing removal.

Cool Re: Replacing The Convertible Top

I am assumiong that you are truthful, and are just curious.
Yes, they can be replaced.
DIY...not all that easy.
If you have a small wear spot. like at the bottom edge wher the tension cord rubs...I have done that.
