Default a new rip/tear in the interior of the soft top

There's a two-inch tear (probably from a box I was hauling that ripped it) in the interior portion of the soft top. The outside is fine. This is the first time it's been damaged. It's in the middle of the roof near the roll bar.
Any ideas for patching or fixing?

I would have your local upholstery shop look at it to see if they can sew it together or what options are available.

Contact adhesive and some material that is a close match. Years ago I ripped a hole in the top of my Rabbit convertible scraping snow off the roof (not the smartest thing I have ever done) and I used contact adhesive to make a round vinyl patch on the outside of the top that lasted for 10 years without leaking. On my PT convertible the stitching on the edge of the roof started to let go and I used contact adhesive to glue the edge back together (one of my first posts on this forum). That has lasted for 3 years without a problem.

Good luck

Rich

if you can get to the back side I would try an iron on patch...

What is the contact adhesive and where would I buy it?

Lauraluxe: I assume they mean a "Superglue" type thing.

For kpl1228

If it's on the inner lining, why not try using a bent needle and single thread to tack stitch it together - not too tight, just so that the torn edges meet - then a dot of glue between the tack stitches, let it dry, then carefully remove the tack stitches and glue it all along?

That's what I'd try first...
