Default Top care, my recent experience

OK, I've seen a couple of queries about top care. The manual says non-detergent cleaner and Scotchguard, but I think Scotchguard has changed since then.

Here's what I did with my '05, black top:
Cleaned with Woolite and a stiff bristle brush, scrubbing in all directions, and really, really rinse.

After drying, liberal applications of Aerospace 303 (I used in the past on other convert tops, and I like it) can be applied in direct sunlight. I followed the directions and sprayed it on ... DON'T, unless you are prepared to mask your car like for a paint job. The stuff oversprays, and when it dries, you'll have a mess. I ended up having to use a course washcloth and Goof-off to clean up the windows, hood, etc. Now I have to rewax the car too! Use a sponge.

But back to the top ... it came out great. All the shiney rub marks from being folded are gone, and water beads up like it's been waxed. 303 is available in a high UV formula, use that.

I figger one treatement per season.

Now, if someone can just help me fix my top motor, I'll have a convertible again, instead of a soft-top coupe'.

Thumbs up Re: Annual soft top sealer Ragg Top

I also the Complete Ragg Top kit which includes clearner and sealer for repealing water. I use 303 for the dash and tires to protect from harmful Uv rays! The best products I know

Curious, is it not possible to raise and lower the top manually if you disconnect the hydraulic piston rods?

I'm a stay at home shopper, so this is where I got mine.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000AY1W7/

Kinda figured I'd get enough to last me awhile.
