Default Wheel bearing

I'm trying to track down a front end rattle/clunk. So far I've replaced the right control arm, strut mount (or motor mount), and one side of the sway bar bushings (so far). I plan to replace the end links with moogs as soon as I have time.

Now if it turns out its the bearings that need replacing is there a part I can buy that has the bearings already pressed and ready to go? Sorry to sound so stupid, but I've never dealt with this issue before. Thank you in advance.

If there is nothing wrong with the hub you might want to just take it to a recommended shop that can press the bearings properly. You need a press to complete the wheel bearing assembly.

typically wheel bearings dont clunk.. they make more of a whurring , grinding sound when they start to go bad..

To my knowledge, there is no wheel hub available that has the bearing already pressed on. Dorman makes a replacement hub, without any bearing included. SKF makes one too; the bearing is included but not pressed on. Of course you can get a genuine Mopar one from the dealer too, but these do not come with prepressed bearings either.

This is because the bearing must be first pressed into the knuckle before the hub is pressed into it.

You also need to know what size wheel bearing your Cruiser has. I believe that they made 33mm and 39mm versions. Just not sure when they discontinued one size and switched to the other.

There are bearings in the upper strut mount that can cause a rattle and can be replaced separately from the strut.

When the wheel bearings start to go bad you might start to notice it with either noise or vibration at 55 to 60 mph. Gradually it might get worse where eventually the noise and vibration goes from 30 to 60 mph.
