The writer sure has good ideas. Lets hope DC takes the hint and leaves Retro alone and just refines a great little car.

Go ahead DC, PLEASE screw up the PT.

Make the next gen PT an ugly boring gas-guzzling box. That way I will save lots of money by not replacing my 02PT for another 5 years or so.

If they are looking for designers for The New PT, I heard the guys who designed the Pontiac AZTEK might be available.

I recall years ago commenting to an auto designer friend about a 79 Cadillac commercial that depicted a new Eldorado backing into a spot in a Nevada car museum and him telling me "Thats nonsense, you'll need to wait five years before a car can be judged as having that lasting iconic look"
It seems they were bit premature in their vision that it had what it took to become worthy of its position in that museum.
Check out that "79" Eldorado today if you can find one in a junk heap..
I think the PT six years out looks as fresh and as good as it did on day one..

First time I've agreed with Jerry Flint of Forbes, but on this commentary he is right on the mark. Chrysler needs to see the icon that the PT is and improve on the engineering, driving characteristics, fuel economy, etc. As PT owners we know all the flaws as well as all the positives. The retro design definitly is not a flaw. In fact my PT was payed another comment the other day; a friend of mine that is thinking about buying a Dodge Caliber took a look at my PT and said that my cars lines are aging well. When I asked her what she ment by that she said that my PT still looked stylish. When I asked her why not get a PT convertible she replied that the Caliber gets better gas mileage. She's a house appraiser so, driving from house to house every day means gas economy is first on her mind.

I think if Chrysler puts the same I4 engine which is in the Dodge Caliber into the PT this could help fuel ecomomy. Also if Chrysler adopts the 4WD from the Jeep Compass and incorporates it into the PT this would also be an engineering improvement. And like I've mentioned in previous posts launching DCX's first hybrid would best be done throught the PT. So a PT with an I4 engine, CVT, hybrid, with 4WD would be the perfect vehicle for me, I'd pay up to 40K for something like that.

So DCX please save money on redesigning the PT and put it into engineering. Who agrees?

I agree although after driving my 2002 Limited through a few harsh winters, not sure if the added expense of 4WD is required.
As it is I'm amazed at the high level of traction this girl has in snow.
I do have traction control and the 4 wheel disk brake option so theres no way to tell how much additional control I have over a standard model.
I think it is as you say, leave the current design as near to its present form as possible..
As it is I don't care for what they did to the interior of the 2006 that screams too modern, too common..
The new dash especially has regressed forward (only a PT can do that) into a hidious look of a modern day car. <LOL>
