2008 PT Cruiser

HI, I just came from the Chrysler Website. You can configure a 2008 PT Cruiser. They are looking at some big changes in terms of options. There are only 4 levels shown: Base, Touring, Limited and Convertible. The 240hp engine is no-where to be found. There is a GT package for the Limited. It includes mostly cosmetic things and no Getrag 5 speed and only with the 180 Hp engine. The convertible appears to have only one trim level. You can get the 180hp turbo on the Touring. No new colors. Prices for all but the Base are higher...but it seems like there is more equipment as standard including side air bags. 4 wheel disc antilock is only brake option...not sure if disc/drum antilock is standard...

Chrysler's PT Cruiser is celebrating its sixth birthday, but the Chrysler group still hasn't decided what to do about a successor model. The Cruiser has received only a minor face-lift since its debut for the 2001 model year.

The holdup: Key decisions have to be made about styling and muscle.

Chrysler group COO Eric Ridenour says there is debate within the company about how retro the next PT Cruiser should be. Said Ridenour: "That is always an issue when you have a car that is unique - what do you do next?"

Maybe Chrysler do not have much idea so they are polling for ideas on what should be include in the next build.
They should continue to maintain the look which makes it uniquely retro

Here it is. It is interesting to note that they say the "site is for research only" and while they're talking about the 2008, the PT pictured on the opening is an 04/05 and not an 06/07..

Does anyone know if the power top has a one-touch feature? It doesn't say on the Chrysler site.

The Sebring does. Can I assume the PT does as well?

It has a one touch down on my '05, but for up, you need to first raise the top with the top switch then the rear quarter windows then the front windows with their switches, I had heard that it is one touch up & down for the '06 but cannot verify, can anybody else?, If so, I wonder if the '05 can be upgraded?
