Dashboard Complaints

I call Chrysler about my 2001 pt cruiser the dash is cracked if we can get everyone to call 1-800-992-1997 or email Chrysler they will recall the dashboards but we must get a large amount of complaints in. It costs about 700.00 with parts and labor to replace the dash.

This thread is a year old. Not too many more complaints about cracked dashboards. Mines still in great shape after 9 years.

Mine is cracked but it obviously sat out in the sun without being treated or cared for (my car came from Florida). The defroster grille broke out when I wiped the dash down. The grille over the driver's side tweeter did the same. It's EXTREMELY brittle. I've been looking for one for over a year now but nobody is willing to ship one.

Do you really think Chrysler will even consider a recall in the shape their in. Maybe, just maybe if it was a life or death situation and people were actually hurt or killed, they would think about some sort of recall, but I haven't heard of anybody's dash jumping up and biting it's owner or causing serious harm.

There's hundreds if not more owners having front end problems with bushing and bearings wearing out prematurely, that could cause serious bodily harm and you don't see Chrysler doing anything about that.

The dashboard is one of the few things on my POS that is still just fine.

I've seen a few posts on this problem on other sites......
and with thousands of registered members...only 4 or 5 actually had problems with a Cruiser themselves!

Not any scientific studies available....i.e.....dash cover used???.....types of chemicals used on dash?.... car out in sun and high heat a lot????

In the 40 plus years I've been driving, I've never had a vehicle with a cracked dashboard cover. I've never had a garage and seldom had any shade trees. I've used a few of the windshield shades but not many and not often. Every vehicle except one in all those years has been a Chrysler product, including Plymouth's, all without any dashboard problems.
