PT Cruiser Petition
PT Cruiser Petition
"It's time to stand up and save our beloved PT Cruiser" Scott Kissinger from PTEnthusiasts.org started a Save The PT petition. No vehicle in recent memory has inspired more automotive enthusiasm than the PT Cruiser. While being completely obtainable to most people - the PT Cruiser awoke in many a passion for a car that they have never experienced. Now we have reached a cross-roads. After years of neglect on the part of the DaimlerChrysler multi-national, an all-American Chrysler is back and ready to show the world what made them a design leader a decade ago. In order to save the PT - we need to let Chrysler know the mistake they are making by letting it die. Sign the petition below (only once per person, please) and we will get your thoughts to Chrysler. Then send an e-mail to all your PT loving friends so they can sign the petition as well. -------------------------------------------------- To: Cerberus Capital Management L.P. Chrysler LLC To Whom It May Concern: We, the undersigned, would like to respectfully present the following. 1. The PT Cruiser has done exceptionally well in the marketplace. a. Sales of the PT in North America, even in the 7th year without major updates are second only to the much newer Chrysler 300, exceeding the sales of even the brand new Sebring. b. Over the course of the 7 years the PT Cruiser has been on sale, by Chrysler's own admission, sales have totaled well over 1.2 million copies world-wide. c. Sales have remained strong, even with little investment on the part of Chrysler to provide updates or more than token special editions. d. The PT Cruiser, in a time when Chrysler is pushing to become a player in markets outside North America, has found success in dozens of countries. e. The PT Cruiser has generated such incredible enthusiasm from its owners, that numerous national, international, and regional clubs; several aftermarket vendors and customizers; and many web sites have been devoted to the car. f. Many PT Cruiser buyers were conquest buyers - coming from cars not built by Chrysler or its affiliates. 2. The market is ripe for cars like the PT Cruiser a. Small cars are making a come-back in a world of ever increasing fuel prices. b. Previous owners of large utility vehicles are looking for replacements that do not sacrifice utility even in smaller packages. c. Sales of similarly themed vehicles (Chevrolet HHR, for example) are strong and growing. This signifies that the market for heritage-themed vehicles is strong even among buyers that have not already purchased a PT Cruiser. We would like to suggest the following. 1. A new PT Cruiser should be built. 2. It should be offered in a retro-themed form similar to what is currently available. 3. Chrysler should, as finances allow, consider building more variants of the PT Cruiser as have been requested by the PT Cruiser community in the past. 4. We, the undersigned, would be interested in buying at least one and would recommend them to family and friends much like we have in the past 7 years. Respectfully yours, The Undersigned -------------------------------------------------- Sign the petition at Save the PT Cruiser Petition | Save the PT Cruiser Show your support, every signature counts. |
Re: PT Cruiser Petition
Sign me up, Hey everyone, I have some input for u about the pt remodel and NO DISCONTINUE of the pt. I am a salesman here at Swantys Chrysler Jeep Dodge in bullhead city Arizona. I drive a 03 pt, i love my dream cruiser, its the best car i've owned. When i found out the idea of Chrysler discontinueing the pt i had to call my regional director about it. She told me she has heard rumors about it but the new chrysler owned by Cerberus has said not a stop to production of the pt but a redesign. Right now they have designed a concepts to the pt called the California Cruiser. A Pt front end with a squared back with modern but retro wood styling on the side panels. But its still up in the air whether its going to go from concept to production product. But the best idea so far is to give the pt a "face Lift" new head lights for sure and a new bottom fascia but the same front grill just elongated and vertically narrowed. There will no longer be a 2.4L High Output Turbo available on any PT model to keep costs down. The information on this is still vague but i will keep us posted as soon as i hear some info. |

Re: PT Cruiser Petition - Thanks!
Hi Cruisers,
New member today and found this petition. Signed today - a section of my personal message to Cerebrus and Chrysler for your reading pleasure: ************* As an orignial 2003 owner who has just driven past my fifty-thousandth trouble free mile, I ask you to consider my thoughts. I knew about the development of the PT since 1998 as I worked for a Chrysler supplier (of the Neon, and now current Caliber, Compass, Patriot) then. I have worked in the automotive industry for 10 years. I know this industry. No car I have ever seen delivers the value, utility, performance, and styling all in once beautiful package. The PT cruiser is demonstrative of a vehicle done right. From design concept, to prototype, to marketing, to fit & finish, to production. This can be the first name plate re-launch under Cerebrus ownership to take the market by storm....AGAIN. Please Cerebrus & Chrysler, the retro-styled ship has not sailed yet! A slickly redesigned PT (start with one 4 door model to manage costs) is well within the innovation capacity of Cerebrus and Chrysler to pull off. Consider going back to the Pronto name plate if you want to "freshen" the image. With $4 gas at the pumps, please don't forget the importance of fuel economy, as current PT's could use an improvement. A turbo diesel or hybrid electric PT getting 40-45 M.P.G. will sell very well. I'd buy one tomorrow if I could. You can even source a VERY nice TDI engine from VW if need be. Cylinder deactivation at cruising speeds would help too. I would be happy to sign gag orders or any other documentation in order to take part in marketing surveys, testing, desing evaluations, etc. I would also be happy to drive to Michigan for any product development initiatives or consumer feed back. In fact I'd even consider working for Cerebrus just for this project alone on a contract basis. Thanks for taking the time to hear me out. Sincerely, Tom S. Quality Engineer Orginal 2003 PT Cruiser owner/enthusiast *************** I truly hope the folks at Cerebrus and Chrysler are taking a serious look at the vehicle and how to keep it alive. Does anyone have any updates? I saw one poster who claimed that they are looking at a redesign but nothing since then. Can anyone confirm spy sightings or insider info? Thanks guys, it's good to be here. I'm looking forward to our future interactions. THS  |
Re: PT Cruiser Petition
Thanks, I just signed the petition today. I really hope this helps. Because, I love my PT Cruiser and was heartbroken upon learning they planned to discontinue it.

Re: PT Cruiser Petition
No offense intended but it seems strange to see a petition to keep the PT alive on this site.
From the impression I have gotten while reading the forum, its seems to me that most consider that only the pure style of the 2000 to 2005 are true PTs.Any change made by DC would not be a welcome thing |
