Hybrid Produced PT Cruiser Selected by Federal Agency and Contractor for Advanced Testing Program

WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire - Sept. 11, 2007) - Hybrid Technologies, Inc., emerging leaders in the development and marketing of lithium-powered products worldwide, was awarded a contract to provide a highly advanced lithium PT Cruiser model.

The advanced lithium vehicle, equipped with Hybrid Technologies onboard rapid charger system, was selected due to its high-speed capacity, charge time, and overall functionality.

A prime contractor for the U.S. Federal Government selected Hybrid Technologies as the subcontractor for the project, and was the party completing the overall selection process and award.

The all lithium PT Cruiser has a charge time using a rapid charge system (on board) of 2.6 hours. The vehicle was developed in Mooresville, North Carolina, and has been a successful production vehicle.

Hybrid Technologies originally developed the PT Cruiser as part of a Space Act Agreement with NASA. The large capacity vehicle is currently in use at NASA Kennedy Space Center. The Federal Fleet PT Cruiser, developed by Hybrid, is one of the world's only production model high-speed electric vehicles. The PT Cruiser is slated to fit within most Federal agencies budget requirements.

This is really interesting, is there any pics anywhere?? Something I wonder about these cars is that since the transmission fluid is cooled in the radiator, is there still some sort of radiator in the Electric car?

I wonder if they can buy the PT from Chrysler, without the engine, and how much it saves them?

I read the FAQ on the Hybrid Technologies site (Frequently Asked Questions | Hybrid Technologies)

Quote:
There is no engine, transmission, spark plugs, valves, fuel tank, tailpipe, distributor starter, clutch, muffler or catalytic converter. Even the best-kept gas car will eventually need a new engine. An electric motor has a virtually infinite life span.

I think it still looks the same.

Thanks for the website, surprised that there is NO transmission, direct drive? wow!

One thing:
Charge Time:8-10 hours (220-240 VAC) for full charge

At 120 miles a charge, you're not going to be doing much interstate driving.

Thanks;

srg

I am surprised they would pick such a heavy car. Even without the engine etc.

Compared to the weight of the battery pack?
(Minus engine/tranny/gas tank/etc. weights)
