" My wife still has her '04 PT and we've put money into to it to last another 100k, but her next car will not be a PT. "

I'd like to see a thread on what you've done to plan for another 100,000 miles.

And my 2cents on the remodel.....sorry to see them go away from retro. But the sooner they drop the PT, the quicker the resale will drop, manufacturers will see the possibility of a new fad car in all those used ones(thanks rental car companies), and we'll see new accessories, body kits, neat stuff, not just more fake wood and imitation 48 Chrysler town and country freaks. Sorry if I've offended somebodies sense of good taste

With the Chrysler/General Motors merger talks still in the works, the PT would more likely be replaced with the HHR if GM actually buys Chrysler. Who knows what will happen, but with today's depressed auto market cut backs will be more likely than ever. One article talked about "decimating" Chrysler's workforce and allowing Chrysler dealerships to die of starvation if GM takes over. Here is an current article link to the merger talks.

I think that Chrysler should re-look at the original Pronto Cruiser Concept for inspiration. When I drooled, I mean saw the car at the Chicago Auto Show, I fell in love. I think the concept Pronto still looks as good as it did in 1998. I havent heard anything further on the merger process and I cant say I'm thrilled at the prospect of seeing Chrysler go away.
As far as bringing the Cruiser into a next gen style, I think there are plenty of cars in Chryslers past that they could still emulate. A complete restyle could be achieved without going completely modern and angular. The HHR makes the case that retro can be had in workable package. Yet some of the things that make me like the PT so much better are actually some of its failings. Its high roofline makes for good headroom but also creates wind drag. The HHR might have lower profile but someone of my height doesnt fit comfy in there.

I dont need to go point by point since I'm sure most of you already know this stuff. IF, IF Chrysler survives and the PT with it, I think a restyle is in order but I dont think this one is the answer.

Cool Re: 2010 PT Cruiser Model (Maybe)

well, theres a few things i do and dont like about the so called 2010 cruiser on that link.
1. yea its slimmer maybe more MPG.
2. i don't see it coming due to the design flaw they should have seen coming.
3. who knows if the engine will be the same?

i'd have to say i like the PT. i got 2 01 PT's that i love. the one i use for storm chasing in tornado season and the one i drive normally. then i also got a HHR which i admit is pretty cool and spacious for me. but my overall favorite car i own would be the Chrysler Aspen 4x4 Hemi. too bad they might not continue that either since its priced about 12-15k higher than the durango for all the same stuff in it.

the only idea that i can think of to keep the cruiser continuing is maybe have the HID Projector headlights, a new more MPG engine maybe diesel, 6 spd trans, slimmer top and the frame a lil higher. other than that i don't think the PT will continue but i'll still stay will the PT Cruiser until i can't find one out there to buy. I might be the only one in 2050+ to still have a PT Cruiser. lol.

That PT was done for a competition to design a 2010 PT Cruiser it was not officially supported by Chrysler
