Never heard of FIAT ?
Fiat was founded in 1899 by a group of investors including Giovanni Agnelli. Fiat has also manufactured tanks and aircraft. As of 2009, Fiat is the world's 6th largest car maker as well as Italy's largest car maker.

Fiat will initially own a minority 20% stake of Chrysler Group LLC with the option of taking additional equity up to a 35% stake if certain operational and capitalization goals are achieved. The United Auto Workers’ union retiree health care trust fund (Volunteer Employee Benefit Association) will be the majority owner, with 55 percent when Fiat reaches its target holding of 35%.

Rumor has it Chrysler doesn't have the finances to convert the Toluca Plant into a Fiat 500 producer.
The style of the PT Crusier also ties in quite a bit with Fiat vehicles so I can see a rebadged PT

Interesting but all they need to do is go back to the 01 thru 06 style and put Pteazer parts on it and be able to have the parts allready come on certan models right off the showroom floor.Like the GT could come with a cowl hood and fender flare kit as well as full grill .that move would save them all kinds of money and help there dealers from new sales to parts dept and bodyshop.Hmmmm .any comments. File:Fiat Stilo Kombi blue r.jpg - Wikimedia Commons Since this is also available as an Abarth performance version, it would be ready-made for a GT Cruiser. All they'd need is a new skin, something maybe between the 2001-2005 and the Stehrenberger drawing, and they'd have a pretty slick premium compact, still with retro appeal, and not have to make the investment needed to redesign the car from the ground up. VW already have shown how much flexibility can be achieved on a platform, with the New Beetle, Golf and Audi TT all on a common floorpan that is stamped on the same line, one after the other - Fiat have said they don't intend to market anything with the Fiat name in the U.S. other than the 500, and this would still take advantage of huge economies of scale without compromising the product. And Chrysler needs a small car to survive; they can't make it on 300s and Sebrings alone (esp. not Sebrings!), even though they still do well with the T&C. |

The PT is dead. Long live the PT.
I agree that the package of the PT is a pretty good score for Chrysler. Chevy tried with the HHR and couldn't pull it off, IMO. I would love to see a new "Retro Rod" from Chrysler, but it doesn't need to be a PT modernized and hacked just to make it "new". Look at the Prowler. The Prowler is a vehicle that will always be unmistakeable. (They should have built it with a HEMI ) In a perfect world, cars like the original Viper, Prowler and PT would never go away. They would keep the designed style. They were bold statements in the automotive world. If they want to continue to improve and refine, go for it! Just don't turn something truly original into another "me too" 4-door hatch. my 2 cents |
