PT Cruisers will go away for the following reasons..
1. They take away more options and trim levels every year. 2. It is time for a whole new PT and Chrysler will not invest to produce it with sales of this one one the decline. How many years is this? 8?? 3. They do not offer a variety exciting colors like a real bright red, a real bright yellow, etc I will give them credit for the blues though.. Deep Water is stunning. I would buy a brand new one tomorrow if I could get a Limited in a stick. That is the ONLY thing standing in my way.

One thing I noticed for years is that in the New York City area the PT was never advertised, in fact I can't remember ever seeing it advertised.
Is that the same across the country? |

I loved my 2005 and when it was totalled, I bought a 2004. Why? Partly cost but also, I didnt want the new ones which had fewer features than the 05. My 04 has even more features. I thought car companies usually continued to make the car more loaded, not less?
Anyway, without the PT in the lineup, I wont ever be buying another Chrysler, nor even an American car, for that matter. I dont usually like American cars due to their sloppy workmanship, but I made an exception for the PT because I just fell in love with the design. I almost really regretted it, I bought the 05 brand new and had enough problems with it that it qualified under California's Lemon Law. I had finally straightened out its numerous defects and begun to enjoy it when it was hit. I have not had the same problems with the 04, but I am smart enough to learn that next time I buy new, it wont be an American car. I have already had a bad GM car (Cavalier) and a truly abysmal Ford (Escort) so enough.

Well, all I have to say is that I am taking really good care of my black beauty because I think it is going to become a classic!

Since the PT is made in Mexico it does not cost so much to build as the US/Canadian union-built models.
The problem is that the PT is priced so low that there isn't much profit in selling it. The tall profile provides chair-high seats but the design is not sleek enough to produce high gas mileage. Just about any motor that could fit into a PT would be more expensive to operate than those in the streamlined low profile econoboxes where one has to sit on the floor with legs straight forward. Oh, my aching back! Look for a changeover to a high mileage low profile econobox at a higher price that will replace the PT. Perhaps Chrysler will move all their North American production to Mexico. Bloomberg.com: Worldwide
It's official: Chrysler has canceled the PT Cruiser. Years of neglect, failure to improve the product, and active decontenting of a car that started out as something of a premium compact have taken their toll on sales, unsurprisingly. If Chrysler survives, and they decide to create a car for this market, expect something far less distinct from its competition, and thus with far less potential for sales and growth of the brand. Good work, guys!

Geese I just read that article and they have dropped everything but the mini-van and the sebring & 300C.
So they said "seeking buyers for the equipment used to make the model" and they said “Would we sell those assets? Yes. Do we have any offers to sell those assets? No. Would we be pursuing a buyer? Yes.” So does this mean there is a slight chance the PT Cruiser could come back but under a new car manufacturer? Really sucks though they had something different and with unique styling that did well for them and they never really changed it or put anything into it like a better engine or a hybrid model...I am really tired of the US automakers doing this over and over
