Im 35 and all my friends were saying that the PT was for older people. I worked at a dealership when they were intro'd and all the marketing brochures had the target market between 25 and 40 y/o. But they were in such demand, who could afford to pay near $10K over sticker and thats what was happening. Same effect as on the New Beetle, Mini Cooper, '05 Mustang and now the Camaro and Challenger.

But i do see more people my age and younger grabbing PTs, prolly for the same reason i did: Its a lot of car for the money, and doesnt look like an appliance. But the turbo, manual, and leather interior were the must haves for me.

'03 PT Cruiser GT 5spd: removed muffler and airbox silencer future planned mods are K&N typhoon intake, 2" rear lowering springs, hopefully some kind of old skool mag style wheels, and possibly at least a stage 1 turbo upgrade. Oh and i GOTTA get rid of those $#@!'in flame decals!

I always said the PTC should have been sized for the Dakota frame and all that goes with it.

A better choice would be the LX platform. That way it would be truly a car and could get the indy rear suspension and all the handling benefits. Most importantly, a Hemi and 6spd stick would be SCHWEET! But here's to dreaming...

I like the size it is now I don't want a van, I would love to see a diesel engine here in the US like the one in Europe. I was reading some of those guys got near 50mpg on the highway with the diesel. If they could make it bigger without making it more of a gas hog than it would be something I may look at.

I don't believe that 50MPG is repeatable - one tank, maybe. I had an '81 diesel Rabbit 5-speed, and I only got about 31 MPG - I got that with a '95 Neon automatic.
That 50 MPG was also Imperial gallons - which are 20% larger than US gallons, so yeah, they better go further per gallon....
