Coming Spring 2004! The price is said to be $21,865 + tax. It will come with a 180HP 2.4L Turbo or an optional 220HP 2.4L Turbo. It's equipped with fold and tumble rear seats for lots of cargo room, and a push-button power top.

source: Chrysler Magazine Vol 2 Issue 3.
I hate to be such a "doubtingThomas", especially on my first post here , but I suspect either a typo or that Chrysler's playing around a little bit with the price and how they intend to equip it. NO way they could sell the new convertible, even with just the 180ho turbo, for only $100s over a similarly equipped touring edition!

Looks good but you lose lots of cargo space. Guess that's the "trade-off" for all the fresh air! [8D]

I tend to agree with Neal. Even if they could sell it for nearly the same price as the 4-door, would they really want to? I think it would cause the sales of the 4-doors to plummet, and re-sale values for them to drop even more. You have to be careful with things like pricing on something like that, otherwise you run the risk of de-valuing the rest of the line.

They can afford to sell it for 21.8. It's cheaper to build a 2dr than a 4dr. They will sell it for what the market will bear and right now the market is weak and the PT is a 3 year old body. They don't care about resale because they sell mostly new. Convertibles are mostly to draw in the public and they figure fresh meat will even sell a few more 4drs.

I see your point, 2sb, but I still seriously doubt we will see any ragtop, much less a turbo, for under $25k on the sticker.

Just read elsewhere (PTE) that dealers have been sent a letter stating the info in Chrysler Magazine regarding the convertible's price was wrong. Pricing will be announced mid-November....and production will supposedly start 1/07/04.

They could sell it for less, but usually don't. Just look at the prices for some of the current popular American ragtop offerings (Sebring, Mustang, Camaro, Cavalier)...all of these are generally $3 - 5,000 over their similarly equipped couterparts (both 2 and 4 door)models.

I don't get it! The convertable destroys the lines of the car and the retro look that I bought it for. Why not buy an ugly old VW Bug convertable and get it over with! (I know - lots of people LIKE the 'vert bug!) "One man's ceiling is another man's floor!"
