Default PT Panel

I heard a rumor today that a 2 door PT Panel is planned for production sometime next year. Anyone else hear this? Any pics out there?

Of all the concepts they have out there, the panel makes the most sense to bring to fruition. Nobody else out there offers a "sedan delivery" so it would be a great niche product for style as well as utilitarian purposes.

Stereo guys (and gals) are gunna love it. Where did you get your info, GTSteve?

I agree. It would also be a simple addition to extend the duration of the current model by another year or two before a redesign. I mean all they have to do is use the convertible's doors, and alter the existing jigs to just omit the rear window cut-outs.

I cannot reveal my source. [:I] Just kidding.

I was at my dealer today to get my PCM changed and I got into a conversation with a salesman. He mentioned the convertible and the panel as future production models. Of course, this is just a rumor. We all know that salesmen are not the best souces of informantion.

BTW, while I was at the dealer, I saw a dream cruiser 2 all decked out with the chrome package and a sun visor. It looked awesome. A very happy looking couple was taking it for a test drive.

Thanks for the pic Gary. That is a very cool car (for 2 people).

Try to imagine the PT Convertible with a hard top. That's what I think they'll do. It makes sense from a production standpoint. No major factory retooling, just get the existing convertible chassis to accept a hard top. I would call it a 2-door coupe, but I can see DC calling it a panel to appease the niche marketers.

If there's no DC panel, perhaps an aftermarketer will make panel type cover to bolt on the conv? It would basically be a fiberglass topper shell with the roof extending forward to the windshield header. The difficult part has already been done by DC.[]

There are panel concepts and concersions out there already. The rumor concerns a production model. Time will tell.

PS - Just got my Cruiser Quarterly today and there are some great pics of panel concepts.
