Default Rental companies dump their PT's

I love my PT! I've rented far crappier cars in my time too, like a couple of Ford sedans that broke down on me at inopportune times. Poor old PT. It don't get no respect anymore.

Let em wag their lips with non-sense. We know better. The ONLY reason they're not in production anymore is because Chrysler wouldn't invest anymore to upgrade it and keep pace with what the customers wanted like the panel or two door. You can't keep the same basic car for 10 years and expect it to sell in big numbers forever.

interesting...so which model was this? "It was a model that had been recalled for a power steering fluid issue."

It was 2001 to 2004's and the 2005 convertible with the NA engine. The power steering hose would rub the transaxle differential cover and wear through it.

Yea, there was 4 recalls that I can think of. The power steering fluid line as mentioned above. Back seat baby/toddler safety hooks. Fuel line rubbing in the engine compartment. Rubber "O" ring on the fuel tank that leaked when the car was upside down.

Do you really think they were still renting plum colored pts? They quit make that color a long time ago. I rent a car I expect it to be 1 to 2 years old. So this article is a great shock to me. Seemed more ego driven to me. " Oh I'm just to important to be seen in anything other than a Beemer."

Wow! did you guys read the comments down below?.. amazing! I don't think I ever heard or saw a car more prone to dislike than the PT, why so much hate?

I swear.. I've had many, many different cars in my lifetime, BMW, Corvettes, T/A, IROC Z28s, Nissan Z cars, Mustangs, Expedition, Pontiac Fiero, Toyotas, Mazdas, to name a few.. and I fail to see why all the hate for the PT Cruiser.

I think it's like homophobia. Deep inside they want one but too afraid to come out of the closet.

The media Drive By article should ask the Rental companies, how many vintage 2010 cars they still rent out 3 years later? Rental companies keep the cars about 18 months then dump them for the most part so I am sure they are just selling off the older cars, business as usual.

Per the comments, haters gotta hate. I laughed when they say it wasnt a good product after it sold 1.4 million units, with minimal investment.

It may be out classed today, but in its day is was a good package and good value.
