That AOL article was one of the most craptastic pieces of "journalism" that I have seen in a good long while.
If the author is going to write in the autoritative voice, he or she really needs to get facts straight. Using proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation wouldn't hurt, either. The author mistakenly asserted that the Caddilac Cimmeron was a badge-engineered Chevrolet Cavalier. It wasn't. It was based off the GM "X-Body" project sharing a platform with the Chevorlet Citation.

I wonder why the Chevy Vega wasn't higher on the list? it was almost as bad as the Pinto. Between the disintegrating head gasket, water choke, and cheep plastic flywheel cover, the only thing they were good for was keeping high school automotive students busy.

Someone had been trying to fix a broken timing belt. When they figured out that the water pump serves as the belt tensioner, they gave up. And gave the car to the filling station owner for the tow bill. I put it back together there in the grass beside the service station and drove it home for my girl friend. After quite a bit of maintenance (like I'm doing now on my PT), the little red Astra served my girl friend fairly well for about three years. Then it slung a rod through the side of the block. I don't think it made it to a 100,000 miles. ![]()

I would agree with the author, but then we'd both be wrong...
