I just got my issue of Motor Trend and it had a piece on the 300C. It said that early in 2005 the 300C will get a 6.1 liter engine with 425 hp. This may make me get rid of my Maraurder and have two Chryslers.

Have you seen one? I spotted one on the highway - has an imposing presence and is very recognizable. Car magazine road tests give it high marks for handling.

I read about that motor a while back in a Mopar magazine when the 5.7 liter HEMI was coming out. They said the bigger motor, that was basically bored and stroked was going to go into the passenger cars while the smaller HEMI went into the trucks. Seemed odd to me at the time, but I'm not complaining.
Maybe Chrysler wanted to put it into the cars but did not have it ready yet. If the Charger comes out with that motor, and the car looks cool, you could add a supercharger and the thing would absolutey smoke most anything out on the street! I love my PT, but I'm sorry to say mine would be up for sale. There is nothing like the sound and feel of a built Mopar V8. It just has to be in the right car, and for me the 300 is not it. |

Sounds interesting, I was looking at the Cadi CTS-V for the next car. If Chrysler can raise the 300C to the CTS-V level, I might consider it.

The caddy is over 50K.... it's quick, but considering the hemi powered 300c starts at 33K, a 425HP "SRT" version in the 40 to 43K ball park would leave caddy execs scratching their heads wondering where cts-v sales have gone
![]() currently, I don't know why anyone would buy the cts v6 over the hemi 300c... the caddy cost more and is much slower.

Boy, the history buffs are really glowing over at Chrysler these days. Although the original 426 was a 7.0 liter, it was "factory" rated at 425HP! Now all they have to do is bring back the Dana 60.
Speaking of which, if DC would offer their 1500 4x2 Ram with the Hemi, 6-speed, Dana 60, AND offer it as a work truck stripper, I'd get one in a <s>heartbeat</s> Mopar Minute [?] A factory drag car nee vehicle. Just super cool in my book.

Don't hold your breathe. A few years back I tried to order a "work special" stripper Dakota with a 5.9, 5 speed and 4.10 rear. Dealer said it was impossible to get the 5.9 and that this would be overkill for this truck. So... I tried to do it with the 5.2 but I had to get the fancy packages and could not get the 5 speed or 4.10. The price was also higher than some of the Ram trucks on the lot. I said "no way" and left. A few years later...the Dakota R/T appears with the 5.9! Still you could not get it as a stripper. Oh well, I bought a Jeep.
I doubt you will ever see the hemi in a stripper with a 5/6 speed, but we can dream! Maybe Chrysler will wake up in a few years. After all they are finally on the right track (RWD, hemi power). |

I think they'd be willing to do something like this. After all, they made the ACR Neons for SCCA. Why not for straightline performers... like their commercials imply?
Remember the COPO Camaros from '69? Maybe DC has a non-RPO way to do this. Dodge: SET THE EXAMPLE! And do the same thing with a stripper PT Turbo and the racers will step in and do the rest [^] |

A Super Stock PT? Just like the old days...warranty not included.

I will admitt that I do like the looks of the 300c. I footnote on the Charger. If Chyrlser does anything to that car like what Pontiac did with the new GTO, forgot about it. It would be a sad reflection of what the real character was all about in the 69/70 version. my 2 cents
