It also is not the '06 PT Cruiser. This a engine test mule pulling a dymo. It must likely is testing engines for the new Jeep Compass.

Where are those license plates from? And why do you say it is engine testing for the Compass? Why couldn't they be testing out the awd system they are coming out with on the PT's?

Hi!

@bigtommy83: the licence plates are from Gifhorn (GF) Germany.

@Richard in Idaho: I agree, it seems to be a test mule.

There are 4 possible opportunities:

1. DC is testing a 5 -or 6 cylinder Turbo-Diesel engine for the PT Cruiser. Actually, they offer the PT Cruiser with a 4 cylinder Turbo-Diesel engine (Mercedes-Benz 220 CDI).

2: DC tests Diesel engines for the compass.

3. DC tests Diesel engines for Dodge.

4. DC tests awd for the new B-class which will be bigger than the actual A-class.

On our way home from hell, mi. a pt cruiser like the one in this tread came up beside us, it looked like it ran off a different type of fuel, it was red but not flame type red, it had a huge filler port on the drivers side, also looked like it was all wheel drive, it sat much higher than ours it also had hood pins old style we were just east of ann arbor.[:I]

jforce, when I lived in Michigan (Rochester to be precise - my home town ya see) I often saw all manner of test mules for the Big 3 (didn't hurt that dad was a Chrysler engineer for 30+ years). I think the two most common areas of the US to see such test vehicles is SouthEastern Michigan and Southern California, where I'm at now. It's fairly common to see small groups of such vehicles on the freeways around here, or on the local mountain roads.
