Must admit it does look pants, don't thik I would have one of those. The front grille looks naff and the lights don't do it any justice. Rewind please Chrysler

I do not think this is the '06 PT Cruiser. Pics of several of these "PTs" have been on the internet for over a year in fact Popular Mechanics showed a pic of one of these about a year ago and claimed it was the '05. On the current Cruiser the character line matchs the hood opening gap. On the one in the pic it just stops at the efge of the door.
OK what is this then if not the refresh Cruiser? I believe as do several others on a number of other forums that it is a test mule (drive train) for the upcoming Jeep Scout/Compass. And the grill show would fit a jeep. The Auto makers often put an old body on a new platfrom for testing.

I'm with Richard on this one. The PT Cruiser is still a money maker for DC everywhere it's sold, they are smart enough to not mess with a good thing. If anything, they might slap a Liberty drivetrain to go after the "I never go off road with my AWD/4WD crowd"

It looks as though the front fenders are higher in front of the wheel center line. They don't drop down in a smooth flow as they do on the current PT. I agree with the others on the Jeep look of this "new" front end.

The grill and hood of the current PT Cruiser have a classic pointed appearance (or at least the illusion of being pointed) and that is a key element in the character and style of the car. A flater nose is a move in the wrong direction. If anything the front end should be made even more retro to keep the intrest of the present owners and attract new owners.

We can only hope that this is a "test mule" for another model as some have speculated. [:I]

I wouldn't look for much of an engine upgrade since the PT is still Chrysler's little econo-truck in the CAFE standards game. Our little economy trucks allow Dodge to sell their Hemi Rams and SRT 10's.

The new Jeep Liberty's are coming out with the diesel engine. Maybe it will go into next years Cruiser? That would seem to make the panel more of a possiblity, being a commercial vehicle.

They're just tweaking the design a bit to keep it "fresh". The big change'll come in 2009 when the redesign debuts.

About the new Charger: Ugly! I would have stayed with a 2-door and make a modern streamlined design reminiscent of the '67. When Ford redesigned the Mustang did they make it a 4-door? Hells No!!
