Default Changing out the compressor for an 07 PT

Are there any videos of this? I just got the compressor today and plan on changing it out myself this weekend. I can't afford to pay for a mechanic, but I have access to a pretty sweet shop! I need it changed out as soon as possible, because it is extremely hot here and I will be a daddy in a few weeks. I don't want my wife driving around with our daughter with no A/C. I'm guessing that changing a compressor is similar to changing the alternator, just popping it off and popping the new one back on. While I have changed an alternator before, I've never changed out a compressor. Any tips or links to videos? Thanks guys.

Well, congratulations on the addition to your family.
Making an AC system work requires special tools, gauges and manifold, freon recovery pump, vacuum pump..
How do you know its your compressor and not system low on 134A? or a hose leaking?
If the compressor goes bad it may have contaminated the system with metal or and plugged the orface tube..

Thanks for the response, Joe!

I had a friend of mine look at it. He was an A/C Mechanic a few years ago. But unfortunately he just got out of the Marine Corps and isn't here to help me replace it. The freon levels were extremely high. We relieved a lot of the pressure until it returned to normal levels, but it didn't solve anything.
