Re: Throttle cable adjustment

Well,
What is going on with the cable ? What set of circumstances leads you to make this statement ? You've made a determination being on-site, we are way out here in left field.

Re: Gas mileage

Well you know about what a PT gets, so chart the numbers. In the mean time call the dealer and let them know or bring it in for a re-check. My point is you have to chart the numbers to be sure. :)

Re: Battery Cable Confusion

Given that short video, I would say a vacuum leak. Could be lines not connected at the back of the intake facing the fire wall, check both ends. There are others as well. I would look at the...

Re: 06PT radiator fan randomly stays on and drains battery

I won't pretend to know how the cooling system is engineered in detail but I would look at my cooling fan relays. If you blew a fuse (50 amp) and a big one maybe there's something going on inside...

Re: P0340 Code.

That is true, and I found the easyest way to tell is to crank the engine. The cranking rhythm, the tone and speed will not sound the same. Often its just seems to spin like an electric motor, minus...

Re: Battery Drain ???

OK, Then there's no problem. A battery can only hold 12.6 after surface charge is removed. Crank the engine and watch the voltage at the battery during cranking, can't dip lower than 9.6 volts....

Re: Battery Drain ???

Making the "assumption"
you have a 300 ma draw or 3 amp draw and I just base that on the fact it does seem to draw down the battery.
I would look around for any added on systems, radio, radio...

Re: Possible belt issue?

That really sounds like a loose alternator belt. Leave your head lights on without the engine running for 5 minutes, start the engine and turn on every other electrical gizmo you have. rev it up...

Re: timing belt no start

That's good news, If the 10.5 is accurate, I too would be puzzled.
One would think a drag would equal high demand, well be sure to inspect the cables at the battery and starter...

Re: Power steering Loss

I understand a new pump is what most would do and for me if it were making noise that would be a different story. I just felt it would be worth looking into the unit for a smoking gun type fault. My...

Power steering Loss

Just thought I would add a note here, I just installed an engine and after driving it 100 miles or so I lost 90% of my power steering. There was no noises herd at all and the system looked fine on...

Re: Picture of assembled engine

Got it running today and everything looks good. I was able to put 100 miles on the car today with no issues, runs nice, transmission shifts good as well. The engine removal and re-assembly was a lot...

Re: Help! Engine Mount replacement

For that mount the two close together in the first picture are correct. the others are not the correct ones. The one you need to remove is under the AC lines the one closest to the engine and the...

Re: 04 PT No Spark after Exhuast Valve Replacement

I'm looking at the codes and think of a few of things, One for the map and throttle sensor you just had the key on with the connectors unplugged, or maybe there's a common ground or reference...

Re: timing belt no start

I saw you said the engine cranks over slow? Is it so cold there? Are you creating heat at the battery cables or other connections. Is your starter getting hot, too hot... a slow crank is not...

Re: 04 PT No Spark after Exhuast Valve Replacement

I have found from experience working as a tune up tech most often a running car will run after repairs are complete unless something was installed askew.

Re: Picture of assembled engine

I spent some time installing the engine, lots a little parts all stuffed in a small space LOL. Fired it up and it ran well, i have to make sure everything is topped off tomorrow. Sounded good, there...

Re: Head gasket ?

Hey reading your post I don't see anything which indicates a head gasket issue. I strongly suggest getting another mind involved. Once your engine can't be dynamic-ly tested without a diagnosis your...

Re: Charging the Air Conditioner

I know this may sound odd but if you find an old refrigerator around the pump inside the unit makes a great evacuator. Takes a little work to remove, wire and fit the hose fitting but it's cheep.. :D

Re: engine won't run

I was a tune up drvieability guy for years and have had thousands of cars that wont run.
After checking for codes I would do some quick tests, first would be if it would crank I would key it up...

Re: Picture of assembled engine

:( No lift but I can get the front end up quite a bit. That's how I remove and install my SBC V8 in my Porsche 914. I'll have to take some measurements. It would be nice to install the engine...

Picture of assembled engine

I am installing an engine and I'm really not well versed on the PT engine. I did remove the engine but that was more than 5 minutes ago and I've forgotten all that. LOL  I have the basic short...
