Re: The PT IS NOT A SNOW PLOW!!!!

the other thing to watch out for is icebergs that fall from other cars. I've hit ones that a normal car should go over without a problem. Not so in a PT. j

Re: Difficulty Starting

Not sure on the PT but I had a Tahoe with the exact same symptoms. Fuel pump fixed it. j

Re: '08 rescue attempt.

Thanks for the ideas. I bought this car wrecked. So, my guess is it was running when it smashed in its front fenders. It sat for awhile at copart, maybe those grounds have failed. I have not...

Re: 2008 turbo limited - power steering pump.

Well that was a job. About 11 hours not counting tool clean-up. It does help to take the headlight out. You can reach your hand in through the opening and manipulate things. And you can look in...

Re: 2008 turbo limited - power steering pump.

Thanks everyone. This is one of those jobs that really sucks! 4 hours in and I'm just now to the pump. Not sure how I'm going to get to the High pressure line. Maybe from below with a crow's...

Re: 2008 turbo limited - power steering pump.

Well I'm quite pleased with myself. It seems as if I've stumped the entire internet. :) I think I've found most of the answers elsewhere. Except the headlight removal. Worth the effort or not?...

2008 turbo limited - power steering pump.

I've tried to save this pump with fresh oil and suctioning out the crud in the bottom of the reservoir but its still noisy.

Questions are,
How is the reservoir connected to the pump?

Is...

Re: Persistent Oil Leak

Check the sealing area on the front of the crank. With that many miles it may well be worn, grooved. There is a repair sleeve available. j

Re: '08 rescue attempt.

I don't remember the model but it is a high end Snap-On paid subscription scanner. Shows just about every thing that's going on. The engine codes I'm getting are all on one circuit that's why I'm...

Re: '08 rescue attempt.

re-setting codes using a snap-on scanner. After clearing the codes you have to crank the engine at least three time to generate new codes. j

Re: ' 08 rescue attempt.

Well I reset the codes so I could generate current list. P0038, P0522, P1274
just to name a few. Most seem to be coming from the same wire bundle. My enthusiasm is waning. Possible that wires got...

Re: '08 rescue attempt.

Yes they are 2 different shapes. It appears that my ASD is working as it should. Engine needs to be rotating for it to operate in the energized state.

Testing with a good scanner. I will...

Re: '08 rescue attempt.

Thanks chuzz, I was on the same track as you. I thought the crank sensor might be cracked so I threw in a new one. No change.

The sensor has a permanent magnet in it. When the reluctor wheel...

'08 rescue attempt.

Hi everyone, long time no see! My original PT Cruiser has been mostly trouble free so I decided to add some turmoil to my life.

I purchased a 2008 Sunset Boulevard edition from Copart. ...

Re: When PT's Ruled!!!

One of the dream 5's went through copart here about a year ago. To me, the grill looked way too aesthetically heavy for the car. It was very coarse and thick. Just did not seem refined at all. ...

Re: So tell me about 2001 Cruisers.

When the PT first came out I didn't think much about them one way or another. After buying my '08 (NA/5spd) I was and am still amazed at how much I enjoy the car. Reading these posts it is obvious...

Re: So tell me about 2001 Cruisers.

I don't think the frame is tweaked. The actual bumper is not dented. But who knows what evil lurks!

Re: So tell me about 2001 Cruisers.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Really great info. It comes down to money. If the repairs cost more than x amount it makes it a poor buy. 2 fenders, hood, bumper cover, radiator, paint. Deer...

Re: So tell me about 2001 Cruisers.

Thanks Zach. Book value is about $2500 in good shape. This one needs about a thousand in body work. Doesn't leave much meat on the bone.

So tell me about 2001 Cruisers.

I'm looking at another orphan to resuce. An '01 with a broken nose.
I usually shy away from first year cars and let the car companies work out the bugs.
How are the '01's? Good car, bad car,...

Re: SCCA?

Thanks rambojoe. In years passed I've raced my Fiero. Great fun. Even won my class. H/s. The PT is in the same class. The Cruiser is much faster than my duke powered Fiero. Biggest question is...

SCCA?

so how are these cars in SCCA solo? I have an 08 NA with 5spd that seems kinda sporty. Handles ok. Seems like it would be fun to go and squeal the tires around the airport.

Any weak points...

Re: Air bag light on. Yes another.

Its hard to imagine both of those pins working loose on their own. My guess is someone shoved something under the front seat and hit the connector. But even that is a long shot. The other wires...

No shop work that I know of. The car is a repo I've been trying to resurrect.
