The security code is ONLY AVAILABLE for export PTs. No domestic PT has a theft code.
That's why the American, Canadian, & Mexican owners are unable to help.

Because the PCM limits timing advance to 23 degrees in open loop; above 85% throttle. Up to 85%, you can get as much as 37 degrees advance.
Also, intake air vacuum is higher with the throttle plate...

I did an accurate temp study with a dual channel scope about 7 years ago. The results are charted at www.ptdiy.net

I do not know if you can change a VIN once it's been programmed. I only said that I program VINs into NEW replacement modules.

I program VIN numbers into replacement modules and security keys all the time.

The NAPA catalog is incorect for the 2004 PT Cruiser. Been there, done that.
Have them loook up a 2002 PT for you. It's the correct T-stat.

You don't have to use the factory manual. I have them and still use my Alldata or Mitchell shop information systems. The Mitchell is online and the Alldata is on DVDs. The factory PT service manuals...

My EVAP machine costs about $2500, plus fluids.
$89 covers the EVAP testing with the machine, $5000 factory scan tool, and a tech with 2 degrees & 25 years experience.
That's a good deal for all...

There is no bushing in the bellcrank. Just replace it. The part number recently changed yet again. They keep re-designing the part to try to make them last longer. I change them by the dozens.
