Re: Misc PT GT parts

Sorry for the delay in responding. I don't get here very often, and didn't get a notification.

I'm thinking $100 ea., two of them are in very good shape. The Red car was hit in the side, the blue...

Misc PT GT parts

All, I've got (3) GT front bumper covers if anyone is interested.

One is Red (05), one is that ugly blue green color (03), and one is from an 03 Dream Cruiser in Orange.

I have an extra...

Re: Trans wonders

I don't know where you are, but I've got a complete "parts" 5-speed in my garage that's going on the next scrap load.

I'm in Central Ohio...

2005 Auto Trans Oddity

Hey all,

I've got an '05 PT Vert - Turbo Lite - Automatic. Everything had been good until some critter chewed up some wires near the top of the engine. Essentially the only wires affected were...

Re: 2001 PT - Speedo issues

The saga continues:

Ok, I tried to fix it but had a bit of a snafu. Replaced both speedo gears, and when I put the two halves back together, it apparently lost one of the caged bearings. I'm...

Re: 2001 PT - Speedo issues

Well, not so fast... I must have missed something when I split the transmission case and put it back together. Replaced wheel bearing today, and went to back it out of the garage - Trans is making a...

Re: 2001 PT - Speedo issues - Fixed!!!

I got a speedometer now :D

Pulled tranny back out - googled up part numbers for speedo drive and driven gears - called dealer and verified my part #'s - ordered gears. ($25.00 for both)

Re: '03 or newer 5-speed trans needed

Yeah, that's about $$ I'm thinking as they're not a high demand item. The yard I usually deal with wants $250 for an older one. I found one for $75 in a local "pull your own" yard, but the car that...

Re: '03 or newer 5-speed trans needed

Hey all, thanks for the constructive criticism. :D

It's the white drive gear - It's fallen off the "pig" inside the tranny. I did go through all of the troubleshooting over in the tech forum.

Re: '03 or newer 5-speed trans needed

Hmm, I thought that's what I was doing.

Yes, I'm watching Craigslist, checked EBay, checked Car-Part and called a few junk yards. They seemed to think they're gold plated (pricing). I...

All, I'm looking for a 2003 or newer 5-speed transmission for a NA car. Preferably close to Central Ohio and reasonably priced. Any one know if one, or a complete parts, please let me know.

Re: Will a 05 2.4 go into an 02 body

Just as an FYI. The 2.4 in the PT is exactly the same engine as in the 4 door Stratus / Sebring cars. You'll still need an '01 / '02 engine, but any 2.4 from a PT / Stratus / Sebring will work. (The...

Re: 05 overheating

Yeah, more details would help with the diagnosis. I drove my '01 for two years with a bad (not working) fan. The only single time I had an issue was when the outside temp got up to 98 degrees, and I...

Re: 05 overheating

Well, the OP reported in the original post that it's getting hot while driving, and cools off at idle. Overheating at speed isn't a fan problem.

Re: 05 overheating

I had one doing that - Turned out to be a cracked head. I'm guessing that since the head gasket has already been replaced, it's the head itself.

After re-reading the original post, you may want to...

Re: 2001 PT - Speedo issues

Pulled it apart again this evening. That gear will come out - but not easily!!!

Gear looked a little worse for wear after I finally got it out, but it was complete. So, I stuck my finger in...

Re: 2001 PT - Speedo issues

Hmmm, ok. I guess I'll need to try again, I hope that's the culprit.

Thanks for the info, I'll let y'all know what I find.

Re: 2001 PT - Speedo issues

I checked it as best as I could. I couldn't get it up through the hole, it seemed to be too large. Is it supposed to come out???

Re: 2001 PT - Speedo issues

To replace it requires pulling the trans out, then splitting it open to get to the speedo gears. I think they started with those gears, then built a transmission around them.

Re: 2001 PT - Speedo issues

Just an FYI update here. I finally got a chance to tear back into this. Pulled the sensor back out of the trans - Chucked it up in a drill - Speedo shows the drill doing 86mph in high speed / wide...

Re: Half-Axle Replacement Question...

Yes, they just pop out. The hard part is getting a "pry point" on the drivers side axle. You have to put pretty good pressure on them to get them to "pop" out. The have a compression style clip on...

Re: 2001 PT - Speedo issues

Well, I already had the PCM connector off. When I originally sold the engine from this car, I let the harness go with it. I had to go to the "yard" and pull another harness to put it back together....

Re: 2001 PT - Speedo issues

Well the gauge test seemed to pass ok. I'm thinking a wiring or PCM issue at this point.
