I agree Steve... The "Key Dance" is NOT the way to troubleshoot your Cruiser.
One good example is P0420. Most people will tell you it's a Cat problem, but a scanner will show other possibilities...

Hmm... Nope. As Nitro stated, demographics plays a big part of longevity of a dc motor. Brushed electric motor and armature are highly susceptible to corrosion depending on area of location.
