Damsel in distress
Evening Covid-dodgers,
Got a damsel in distress over Stateside - bought a PT for her Mum who's partially disabled but loves the PT because she finds it easy to get in and out of.
Long story...

Re: Wheels Spacers and Front End Vibration
The expert has spoken.
Kids, never threadlock your wheel spacers. Threadlock is for sissies, and no engineer would ever use it to lock threads on an additional assembly.
OK?

Re: 2006 PT not getting fuel
He can, or take the filler cap off and get someone else to turn the key in the car - you can hear it loud and clear from the fuel pipe (if it's working)

Re: Wheels Spacers and Front End Vibration

I'll bet you a bag of doughnuts they are perfectly balanced, unless you bought some cheap sh1t from eBay that are so out of round you would notice and...

Re: Wheels Spacers and Front End Vibration
You're right, lowering changes the geometry - in particular camber goes out the window if I remember rightly - but I would *hope* () Frank has had an alignment check since dropping it.

Re: Seats - and how to lighten them
Not that you and I ever bicker about anything :D but they were weighed on a German forum and they total 57Kg.
57Kg is 126lbs.
The kerb weight of a 2.0ltr LE is (was) 1568Kg - I'll let you work...

Re: Wheels Spacers and Front End Vibration
Frank, if you get something cheap and cheerful like this (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B06XHVXPSJ) then glue it to a piece of (eg) 4 x 1 finished wood you'll be able to hang it on your rear wheel with...

With a choice this afternoon between 3-in-a-bed with a nubile pair of young Latino virgins and making a PT Cruisers back seats lighter, naturally, I decided to start stripping the larger of the back...

Re: Wheels Spacers and Front End Vibration
25mm Spacers will exacerbate (theres a nice word!) any mis-alignment you already had.
Golden rule is *any* suspension or steering work needs an alignment afterwards, including changing wheel size....

Seats - and how to lighten them
Seats are 3% of the PT's weight. Like lots of people, I run without mine in. But, their nice to have, especially as we can fold them out of the way.
Has anyone figured out a way to lighten them?...

Re: PROJECT: PT Crawler Convertible Build
Yeah I can see where you're coming from - it's pretty much "all or nothing" -unless you completely ladder frame the PT inside then get rid of the whole floor, it's got to be a hi-boy.
I'm not...

Re: PROJECT: PT Crawler Convertible Build
Seems to me that the easiest way would be to build across the sills (rockers) inside the Vert - maybe using 3 or 4 2" angle irons ground out at the ends so they welded to the top of the sills on...

Re: PROJECT: PT Crawler Convertible Build
If you think it sits too high, I'm sure you already know what your two options are ;)

Re: No start after new timing belt
This would be really sh*t luck after doing your belt, but take the plugs off the ECU (Gen 1, right? Up on the firewall, I think) and check that there is no oil in them... Give them a spray out with...
