I had deleted my response saying "check the fuses" because (upon rereading) the OP said a shop checked the fuses. I ought not have trusted the shop.

There is a fuse that, if bad, can create this condition- cranking but not starting.
IIRC it is in the dash fuse block.

The fuel level sensor is grounded (G104) on the right inner fender.
The sensor signals the instrument cluster via the BUS communication system.

Sorry about this. It will be a pain to recover them.
You will need to remove the top dash panel to access the defroster duct.
Then if lucky, dropping a magnet at the end of a cord into the duct...

Simply tap into the existing 12-volt accessory feed wire going into the connector of the oem radio harness.
You say the original radio gets this power, so the needed power wire is there on the body...
