Default Painting Satellite Antenna

I had the Mopar Sirius Satellite system installed with a roof mount antenna, on my 04 Eletric Blue PT Limited, a few months ago. I would now like to paint the antenna to match the PT. However, I do not want to remove the antenna, I need to paint it while it's attached to the roof. Has anyone done this? What do I need to to do? I already have the paint, I just need the process/procedure.

Someone might know better but I would lightly sand it, throw on a coat of primer and then paint. Of course cover the sounding areas to avoid paint overspray.

Were you not able to put the antenna on the inside? I have an XM unit and was able to attach the antenna in the center of the dash closest to the windshield...you can't even see it and reception is great! Just something to think about....

I don't know how the antenna is installed, but it is there already. If it envolved drilling and holes and stuff, paint it and leave it there. If it is just stuck on there then bigphil ideas a good one. If you don't have to see it then hide it!

It can't be moved. It has been drilled in and glue and waterproofed to the max. The dash install was my first choice, but the antenna was too big and fat and deep. About 4'-5' long and 3' high with about a 1" post at the bottom. It would not fit on my dash, the hardware for my Viper 791 remote starter was installed right under the dash where the antenna would go. There was no room. I was too impaient to get a flush mount antenna. Now back to painting suggestions. [:I]
