Default help installing in-dash dvd

I need to wire the in-dash DVD to the reverse wire and parking brake sensor. Anybody know where I'd find those?

Thanx in advance.

You didn't want to wire it to a switch so a "passenger" could watch while the car is moving?

Unless you have a back up camera or navigation you do not need the reverse sensor hooked up, but i am guessing you did not get navigation because then you would need to hook it up to the speed sensor
As for the parking brake wire. what kind of unit is it? some of them can very easily be wired so that the screen always works regardless of whether or not the parking brake is down. and believe it or not it is much easier to do it that way. But then there are other units that are difficult to bypass. so let us know what kind of unit you got

It's a Kenwood KVT-717DVD. I plan to ad a rearview camera later. The VSS is white with an orange stripe. It goes from the transmission to the PCM. I still have no idea where the parking and reverse wires are. Any help would be great. Thanx.

Uhhh... so I'm assuming that your system works, right? If that's the case you could ask your bud and post the info. Thanx.

Yes mine works flawlessly. I had said I was going to ask for you already. So here is some information he gave me on mine. He is not an expert btw so take everything with a grain of salt (but he's helped me install other equipment in the car before, so I trust him).

He wired mine to switches to operate the on/off functionality for movies/camera views. As far as the reverse, he didn't do that for mine since I had no camera for reverse (don't need). However about this he said you might want to wire it to the power going to the reverse light?!

As for the parking brake sensor, as I said he ran it to a toggle switch w/ ground (and an additional one for the brake itself that had to be tapped 3 times to another toggle button). There were 2 wires he had to use... both were yellow BUT one had a blue stripe, and the other a black. Each were for 2 different things (one was brake, other was parking brake I guess). He doesn't remember which was which but for sure how to get to them is under the steering wheel column, theres a big panel (only one I see besides the little fuse box) and right under where the panel meets sterring wheel, give it a tug and the clips should snap off from the hooks and it should rotate down... I found that you can actually take it off completely if you need to by letting it hang all the way down then moving the sides of the panel toward the seat and then moving it downward at the same time.

Then after you get in there theres a cluster of wires... see which has the TWO yellow wires (one with black, one with blue stripe).
You could I guess hook it up to one and if it doesn't work then... but atleast that is something to work with.

He doesn't know about the reverse wire on my car as far as color goes.

Hope this helps. [^]

Just Ground the parking brake wire. It is the easiest and best way to do it. It will play DVD's all the time.

If you want the parking brake wire. It will be the one that is ground behind the pedal itself. I have to check the rev. wire, but you can also go here for wire info help www.the12Volt.com.
