Default Info about Mopar subwoofer

This is for anyone that wants to put a sub in there car but did`nt want to take up space in the hatch. I found that factory sub for the rear of the cruiser had been discontuned and can be had for 179.00 plus shipping at the PT Boutique. This is about 400.00 option from Mopar and I always wanted one but couldn`t justify the price now I can. [?]

Coop,

Good information. I had a hard time finding the Subwoofer on the site until I used their search feature. Here's the link to the home page.

FYI. I bought one from them last year. The instructions do not mention there is a way to adjust the amount of base. There is a small screw like adjustment that will allow you to increase or decrease amount.

When I had my friendly Best Buy install they did not know this and I had to remove it again and made the adjustment. Recommend that when you do the install that you listen and make adjustments before putting back on the quarter panels. It sounds OK, however not sure it was worth the $'s for my taste. Should have invested in new speakers.

My 2 cents.

I'm new PT owner and new to forum. Disappointed in the stock radio in my ltd. Find I am missing the audiophile stereo in my previous car. Saw the info on the mopar sub and went to the ptboutique site. Does anyone know why it's not recommended for a 2001 pt?

They say that because the plug for the radio in the 2001 model is different than on the 02-05. If you purchased this newer subwoofer, you would be on your own to wire it up, as the plug that connects to the radio would not fit

The subwoofer came out as an accessory for the 2001 model. I was able to get a used one when my friend traded in his PT. I cannot belive the depth it adds to the music.

I just installed my sub and it rocks! It does add depth to the music. When you install the sub make sure to test it before you button it up. I completely installed mine and then found out that it was too much even on its lowest setting. There is a small adjustment pot on top of the sub that will raise or lower the sensitively but you have to make this adjustment before you completely install it.

Does this mean it will not work with any other radio except the factory one?

Just got mine today. Looks really cool. Directions show it will work with any aftermarket radio.[?]

I ordered this exact unit for my 2004 PT Cruiser recently. The bass is controlled through the head unit -- depending on which unit you have there are several ways of adjusting the bass. I ordered mine from www.moparsupercenter.com -- wonderful to deal with and unbeatable pricing.
