Default Ipod and 6-disc Changer

I'm curious why an Ipod adapter won't work with the 6-disc radio? The ports on the back are the same as the non-6-disc version?

blueberrygt,
Which iPod adapter are you looking at? I just installed a USA Spec DF-CHR that plugged into a socket originally intended for the factory disc changer. It's just to the left of the socket for the main wiring harness when viewing the radio from the rear. Perhaps your radio doesn't have this socket?

With the in dash 6 CD changer the jack is there on the back, but you don't have the external disk changer control functions on the radio (and the jack may not even be wired).

I was in the same boat, but I installed a Pioneer DEH-3800MP and Pioneer CD-IB100 iPod controller. I bought them both from Crutchfield for about $180. You could probably beat the price, but they give you a great adapter, a wiring harness to go with it, and the shipping was free.

Now with my JLAudio Stealthbox and Alpine 200W subwoofer amp the stereo sounds great! The headunit has 22W RMS/50W peak per channel which is enough for me. Working the iPod from the faceplate (or wireless remote)is a little slow and cumbersome, but it does work. The sound is crystal clear through the dock connector.

I am extremely happy, and I think it was a bargain!
