Default MX5 need some help

My cd/dvd player keeps cutting out . According to my manual there is a IOD that could be screwing up. I can hit the steering shroud and the radio starts playing. What and where is this IOD? Has something to do with the ignition. and is there anyway to test it? [:0][:0][:0][:0][xx(][xx(][xx(][:0][:0][xx(][xx(][xx(]

There's a fuse underhood for IOD:
17 15 Amp/Lt. Blue Ignition Off Draw (IOD)
If you're banging steering column & it works, suspect it might be ignition switch-related...[:I]
