Default JL Audio Stealth box

Has anyone on here used the JL Audio Stealth Box, with the factory head unit, or aftermarket head unit? Either application will help me. I was told I can use it with my factory head-unit no problem, but I was wondering how this setup sounded to anyone that had it.

Basically - what I need is a subwoofer that goes in that compartment in the side, and gives me a rounded sound. If I could just buy the stealth box itself, I'd probably do that, as I doubt the sub and amp it comes with is worth a whole lot. I don’t want mass bass in my car, just a rounded sound to go with components all around in my car. I can’t take up any space in the car, since I use the back enough that I couldn’t spare any space taken up in the back for subs.

Thanks guys,
Matt

I have the stealthbox in my pt.It does not have a built in amp.You can try the mopar subwoofer,it has a built in amp and you can get them on ebay usually under $200.The stealthbox in my opinion is an awesome sub.Takes up no space and produces great bass.I have an alpine 200 watt amp powering it and i am happy with it.

How much did you pay for your Stealth box, and where did you get it? If you don’t mine me asking that is. I was at the local car stereo shop, and he told me the JL Audio Stealth Box was $450 - and that included the box, the sub, and a JL amp. I guess he could have miss spoken, but I could have sworn the picture in the JL add showed the amp included with the setup.

Hopefully I'll stop by the shop again later this week, and I'll double check about the amp. Glad to hear you like the sub, this makes me feel better about spending the money on it. I mainly need one that doesn’t take up the whole trunk!

Matt

They sell between 450 and 495 around here with no amp.So if he gave you a price of 450 with an amp that is an excellent deal.I was able to find a slightly used 1 on ebay for $250.I have pictures on my car domain site if you want to check it out just click the link below.

That’s a sweet deal on that box, I would love to find one used like that. I am going to head back to the car stereo place, and make sure it does come with that amp. Either the guy didn't know what he was talking about, or he was giving me a good deal. I don’t know for sure!

You car is sweet!! Love your engine bay, nice work! I need to get around to getting a car domain sometime. Mines basically bone stock except I have a flowmaster super 40 series muffler, with a nice polished tip. Sounds pretty mean, but gets a little annoying on the highway. I also have an el-cheapo intake.

How do you like the Infinity 6x8 components in the back? Do you have an amp, or are you just running off your aftermarket radio? I am eventually going to go with new speakers all around, and I was planning to do components in the back also, I was thinking about just 5.25's, but now that I see you can get 6x8s in the back, maybe I'll look into that. How much work was needed, besides cutting the molding for the tweeter and such?

Thanks,
Matt

I have an alpine 4 channel amp that runs the components and the sub.You should be able to just bolt in 6x8s in the rear and 6 1/2 in the doors. If you put components in the rear then you would have to make holes for tweeters. You can email me at wb605@msn.com if you want to talk about stereo equipment.
