hi - i removed/popped off the rear speaker trim/cover, then removed the 4 screws holding down the speaker, yet i can't budge the speaker loose.[xx(] i even tried prying it out with a standard screwdriver - still no dice. any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

Pry a little harder. Should be only 4 screws which you removed. If I remember correctly, Chrysler used a tape between the speakers and body to prevent rattles.
