Default 2005 DVD Nav system

Hi
Just picked up my new cruiser today & the dealer did not have the book.....he is getting me one....but the Nav system seems to only work with the disk....can the dvd be loaded into the radio & then be removed to use?
I got a brand new vert 2005 GT Turbo that was never sold.

Thanks
Larry

Does anyone know how to increase the volume of the voice on the nav system....the turn by turn.....voice is low & very base....but the radio is higher in volume & good balance ......can the navigation work without the radio sound on??

Also ....is there a reasonably priced Ipod interface available?? Most that I have seen say not compatible with navigation or 6 disc unit radio.

Thanks
Larry

If you're tallking about the Chrysler RB1 nav system, I can tell you:

The dvd has to be in the unit at all times when using the navigation, one of the reasons I got Sirius satellite radios with the unit.

The radio must be turned on for the navigation to be used. If you want no music, adjust volume to zero, just make sure the nav voice isn't saying anything when you turn it down, or you'll turn that down instead of the music.

The nav voice only comes from the left speakers, and can be adjusted when she (the bitching betty) is saying something, so to adjust, turn on unit, (radio plays) then put in a destination, now whenever she says anything, THAT"S when you can adjust HER volume, using the normal volume knob. The music volume automatically lowers and she speaks from the left speakers only.

Here is a pretty good link to a Jeep webiste that covers quite a bit about the RB1 chrysler nav system:

Jeep Navigation website

Hope this helps, I love this nav unit, although I think it's getting a little out dated now.
