Best buy isn't paid on commission, so it won't benefit them to sell you a higher dollar system. Check out sirius radio's website and look at the radios they have there. Once you find one you like, then you can go and have them install it. Even stores that are paid commission understand that if you aren't satisfied with your purchase, you will return it, and they won't get paid anything. So they usually try to get you something you will be happy with.
Most of their receivers are an "all-in-one" meaning the display screen and the receiver unit are one unit. I think the sportster 4 or 5 and the starmate 4 look pretty good in the PT, since they all have blueish lights. All the others have an orange display and I personally think that looks out of place in the PT. I think the starmate 4 is a good price and has a small display. I'd put the unit either on top of the radio bezel or on top of where the cupholders are. But that would be up to you. If you have an aftermarket CD player installed, then you can just get the specific add on for that player, and have them mount that receiver where the OE would mount (left rear panel, there's a mounting bracket and everything) |

the best way to mount is using a cup holder mount
like this item on ebay Car Cradle & Cup Holder Mount for SIRIUS STARMATE STR1 - eBay (item 170198188123 end time Mar-07-08 17:05:53 PST) that way you can run the cables behind the dash the antenna wire can go behind the glove box and up by the a pillar ( window pillar) remove the passenger sun visor and pull the antenna out of the sunroof mount it in the middle most of them have magnetic also the best way to feed the audio in to the radio is by using the aux or the sat plug on the back of the radio, to listen to your Sirius you press the MODE BUTTON you need this interface (fm modulators have a very bad sound quality when driving ) good luck PIE CHRY04-AUX/S CHRYSLER AUXILIARY INPUT ADAPTER |

those are some good suggestions, you would lose a cupholder, but that's not a big deal.

If you don't want to spend the extra $$ purchasing the separate cup holder mount I came up with a cheap alternative. Yes, you do lose a cup holder but it's a lot better than having it mounted on the dash pad, or windshield.
Clean the area around the cup holder with rubbing alcohol as well as the inside of it (the sides of the well). Then, all I did was used the mounting disc that came with the radio (the one you are supposed to mount to the dash that the suction cup sucks down to) and stuck it to the top of the lid off a can of black spray paint after cleaning it with rubbing alcohol. The lid sits down almost flush in the cup holder and touches the sides of it as well. I put a couple of pieces of 3M two-sided tape on the sides of the paint lid and then sat the lid with the disk in the cup holder. The disc has a large enough diameter it sticks to the lip around the cup holder, the sides of the paint lid stick to the inside of the cup holder which keeps the entire thing from tipping over. This may sound crazy, but it works, it cost a few cents to make and it looks good. I can upload a pic if anyone is interested in seeing the end result. |

By the way....I did this for my GPS unit, not my sat. radio. I changed out the factory unit for a Kenwood with Sirius Sat. Radio remotely mounted under the seat. I still like this set up because while it's not invisible don't scream "steal me" like having the GPS mounted on the dash or windshielf.

I have the stilleto 10 and I bought the professional install kit for it. I mounted it right under the middle of the dash just in front of the shifter. That way I can change the stations while my hand is resting on the shifter. I used the direct fm modulater that connects into the antenna. I have no problems with the sound and the install is clean with no wires hanging all over the place. The only problem with the fm mod. is you have to buy $30 worth of adaptors to get it to work with the stock radio.
