ipod cassette adaptor

Hey i have a 2002 PT Cruiser and luv it to bits.But something strange happens when i try to connect my ipod or mp3 player with my phillips cassette adaptor.It's volume is way lower on one side than the other.I have tried cassette head cleaners, various adaptors and players with the same result ,also i have a belkin tunebase (fm transmitter) and the loss of radio stations is just anoying.I suppose direct connection is the best way but seems exspensive,so this is my dilema. Also i forgot to mention if you hit the auto reverse button the lower voume changes side ,the funny thing is cassettes play fine.Any help or advice would be very welcome THANKS

Check your adaptor for an adjustment dial. I have a Sony adaptor and it has a 3 position dial to adjust the mating head in the adaptor with the cassette player just for the problem you are having.

I brought up the possibility for an inexpensive direct input on another thread,
Custom Aux wiring to 10-pin 2005 radio harness
but it didn't get much of a response. Maybe it will get more attention here.

I'd like to put my own Auxiliary input to the
radio for my mp3 player. I've found many manufactured devices to do the
job
But these start at $69 and only go higher.

I feel we could wire this simply if we had a diagram of the input pins on the radio.
Specificly the 2002 to 2005 pt radio with the 10-pin external cd harness. I would
guess it would have some line level stereo inputs and
maybe a control line which would usually be controlled by the external
factory cd changer, or the sat radio.

If we could find a diagram for the 10-pin harness, we could wire up my own
Aux input on the cheap using the stock radio.

It came with a Discman I bought years ago. Marked "Car Connecting Pack CPA-3" The dial is marked "Cross Talk Adjust" I also have a Kenwood adaptor that does not have an adjusting dial.

IT is not that simple i have spare radios from my town and country and the plugs, after wasting 3 weeks and soldering wires i found out that the radio needs to see the cd changer to open that port that is why the auxiliary input interfaces cost that much because they have electronics inside that tricks the radio to believe there is a cd changer plug but in the other end there is only 2 rca jacks

sometimes is better to pay the $69.00 and it is over you can listen to your device no more tapes or fm modulators and it looks clean
i believe that time cost a lot more

Still no luck bought a Sony CPA-9C with the same results.Couldnt get a CPA-3 any where looks like i will have to go with direct connection. Thanks any way, if anyone knows any more info let me know

I have an I pod and it's great for the gym but it thought it was a pain in the bum while I had a rental for a month, pluging it in and fiddling while driving.

Bin the OEM unit and buy an aftermarket cd/dvd unit, you can get them for $100 on e-bay, burn your I tunes library to a few dvds and you are done, no messing about with I pod buttons while driving. plus most of them come with bluetooth so you can answer your phone safely and actually hear the other person (not like the sun visor bluetooth thingys).
