double din unit

Hi,

I looked but couldn't find a thread about double din sized head units.

I have the tape / cd unit in my PT GT, I want to ditch it for a dvd type double din unit. Is there an adaptor facia or anything needed?
e-bay or somewhere should be good for a wiring adaptor too?

I took the radio out this morning and there is no space for double din only 1 din 1/2 , there is no space inside the radio hole only for the factory radio
i just install a ipod interface to my factory radio and there was almost no space for the wires

Does that apply to all models of PT? I've got a 2006 PT Touring, and was hoping to get a pioneer Double Din unit (P8000bt) put in. Crutchfield's website doesn't seem to know wheat units are or aren't compatible.

With a little cutting you can put a double din in a 06 and up PT. I molded a 10.2 widescreen lcd in mine.

How much cutting, and cutting of what? (The visible trim around the radio, or something behind the dash that can't be seen?

I don't suppose you have any pictures of the process by chance?

Wow, looks pretty impressive. I assume based on the pictures you meant 'cutting' the actual silver face area to fit the larger size lcd? Did you have to cut anything behind that bezel to fit in a double din unit, or was there enough room behind?
