i am trying to install a kenwood kdc-mp438u in my 02 pt....all went well but have little to no radio reception.....kenwood tells me that my P.CONT wire needs to be connected to my factory amp...(i didnt know i had one)...the instructions say connect to either power controll terminal when using the optinal power amplifier, or to the antenna control terminal in the vehicle....at the risk of sounding stupid can anyone tell me what to do or where to look...ready to sling this thing up against the wall and settle for singing to myself while going down the road..(trust me,....you dont want to witness that)

i beleive they are assuming you have a power antenna. was your car originally equipped with an upgraded (infinity?) sound system? unless it was you have no need for any power control wiring connections. make sure that the antenna is properly plugged in, and that the antenna mast is tight.

I believe I'm having a similar problem, I cannot find the wire on the cruisers harness (2005 Dreamcruiser convertable) that powers the amplifier. The only optional wire there is a purple/yellow wire that should lead to the PCI bus (bad idea to connect to this one).
I've tried linking the p.cont line from the kenwood head unit I have to the red wire (blue red together) but no dice, and that doesn't make sense as that's the 12V switched accessory line anyway. Stock head unit manages to turn the internal infinity amp on however so there must be a way. |
