Default Couldn't Get The Console Unconnected - 2006 Limited

Okay, so I've never installed a radio before. I am replacing my stock single CD unit with a Mopar RAQ 6-disk unit. I searched the board and found some info, but I guess I need more details on how to disconnect all of the controls so I can get the console out of the way.

I disconnected the battery to start, and I had no problems getting the clock and defroster disconnected. I don't see how the power windows plug disconnects (red thingie on the side maybe?) and since I can't get that off, I don't have enough play to even get to the heater controls.

the red thingy comes baxk about 1/4" and this unlocks the connector, there is still part of the switch that needs pressing in to allow it to unhook, do this then pull it and it will come apart with a normale level of force.

once you have it out, you can get the screw out that sits behind the switches and if all your dials are off the console should come out again with quite a small ammount of pulling.

Thats sounds more like the instructions for the pre-2006 console.

This is a 2006 PT. I removed the hidden screws in the air vents and popped the console lose all the way around. At this point the console is connected to the car only by the various wiring and the heater control cable.

When you say the red unit comes back do you mean away from the console, towards the wiring?

I put everything back so I could drive to work and since then Nebraska's been having severe weather each evening that has prevented me from working on the car. The closest a tornado has come to my place was under 5 miles and that's way too close for comfort.

Got it all done. I have a longer post in a reply in the interior forum.
