Default Trying to install new stereo

OK, so I just bought a new stereo system that is not specifically made for a PT, and I noticed that the stereo currently in the car takes up a larger space then the one I just bought. How am I supposed to install the new one?

Probably the place that sold you the stereo has a faceplate made for a Chrysler. Your new stereo slids through the faceplate and then the faceplate attaches to the stereo. Then the whole thing slides back into the dash. I know Walmart sells them too.

I'll give you some technical words for what happened.

A regular stereo actually is a "size" it's referred to as a DIN. That comes stock on some vehicles such as Honda's I believe. Dodge and GM use DIN and a half, they're about 50% bigger. VW will often use double DIN, these are twice the size as the deck you bought.

All you have to do is get an adapter that is made for the PT. It is a DIN and a half adapter. I have one in my car for my Alpine deck, it looks like it came with the car. If you get a wiring kit for the deck too it may make the install easier as well.

Hope that helps,
Ben
