I just bought a 2006 PT cruiser, mostly by phone. I did get a written description of the car by fax, which listed all of the options on it. One of those options was listed as 1 year service provided by sirius. After taking posession of the car, I called the number in the owners manual to try and activate the sirius sub, and they tell me there is no free time associated with my radio number, and that the free year is usually just for new cars.
Now, I could see the options list being just a printout from what the car originally came with, but something like that shouldn't be included when selling a used car if in fact the free year isn't still available. Was the listing I got from the dealer wrong, or the guy at sirius wrong? Would it be unreasonable to ask the dealer to pay for a year sub if the car doesn't have the year free service? |

The page the dealer faxed me was the vehicle option report that they received from the auction where they bought it.
I expected it would be included though, since during my shopping at local dealers I saw that same 'one year service provided by sirius' on many of the certified pre owned pt's. If I had bought from one of those local dealers where it was on the window sticker of the CPO car, I would definitely have expected them to honor it. Last edited by Aurock; 28 Nov 2008 at 09:38 am. |

When you say "dealer", do you mean a Chrysler dealer?
If whomever sold you the car was advertising the Sirius, you should go after them for it. From what I've heard, the one year subscription is not transferrable to anyone after the original owner. If you got the car at an auction, I'm sure you're not going to be considered the original owner. My wife's PT came with the 1 year of Sirius, the Chrysler dealer did whatever they do to get the Sirius working, when we got the car, it was already getting Sirius. About 11 months later, Sirius mailed her a letter, telling her thet the free time was almost up, would she care to sign up? srg |

Yeah, a chrysler dealer. I asked, and they said that's on new cars only. I'm not going to make a fuss about it. Now, if I had bought it from the chrysler dealer who had it listed on the window of every pre-owned, I'd push harder for it.
