Hey Mopar Brethren,
I started working on installing my new matched component speakers, amps and subwoofer this past weekend.
I wasn't sure where to hook up the amp. "remote turn on wire" - this is the one that monitors a 12 volt signal and tells the amp. to switch on.
When you guys did your systems which wire did you hook up to? I was thinking the cig. ligther port would work since it only works with ACC or ignition on positions, but I almost broke it trying to get it out.
- Since our cars don't have power antennas is there a wire off the factory radio harness that we can use to send the signal?
- What color is the wire or what pin position is it?
I'm planning on piggy-backing off the same remote wire for the sub-woofer dedicated amp. Any problems with this so I can turn on both amps simultaneously?
Thanks guys I know you all have this figured out, but this is my first DIY install so I'm not sure.
EDIT UPDATE ON 12/5/08: Found that the Red wire with white stripe is the power wire directly into the radio - when key is in "on" or ACC" position this wire gets 12 volts - should work well for turning on the amps. This is the wire I decided to use.
