Default Radio and Horn

I have an 04 PT with a factory CD unit. My issue started with all power to the radio including the clock would go in and out sometimes for just a second others times for a day or two. I have taken the unit out twice and checked the wiring in the back. After I have done this it works for a week or two and then it goes in and out again. Now when the radio goes out the horn does not work. However when the radio works the horn works. Any suggestions?

Very strange, but, here's a forum for the Chrysler Minivan and some of the same problems ...click on the link and read.

With the caravan's it was the clock spring in the steering wheel. They were covered by warranty because the also supplied power to the air bag. I would contect Chrysler and see what they have to say. I had the clock spring replaced 2x on my 96 caravan.

My horn quit working so I took it to the dealer. He said there was no clock spring on the PT. He wanted to sell me the whole airbag assembly for only $600. Had a local machanic adjust some pins inside the steering wheel and the horn worked fine. My clock on the radio use to gain about 10 minutes a month. Finally just replaced the radio. Horn and radio problems were independent of each other.

Thanks for all the assistance further down in the string on the clock spring thread there was a comment about another PT that had a similar issue. I have since detected that when the steering wheel tilt is adjusted the radio and horn go out. I am going to try to ground the steering column to the chassis and will let you know what happens.

Run from that dealer. There certainly IS a clock spring on the PT - there are TSBs on it - early ones gave a clicking sound....
