Default 2004 PT - Need recommendations

Hi all,
My passenger door speaker is blown. Sounds all staticky with the voice and/or music.

I'm thinking of upgrading the stock radio. That radio is not the typical rectangular shape (as you all know ). Where can I find an inexpensive mounting kit for normal radio's?

Also, once doing this what kind of radio and sub do you recommend? I'm not looking to spend a alot. (Note in the great white North - hint Country that obama visited yesterday - prices are higher here).

I took out the busted door speaker. Not too difficult. I did notice that there were tweeters in the dash after testing the radio with the busted speaker out. But they're so weak. So the store recommended a set with a separate tweeter to not be installed. Marketing?

I bought a pair of Alpine SPS-600C. I put the Alpine tweeter in the mirror cover. Just fits. Sound is really nice. But I have to turn the Bass up all the way and the treble to 1/4 from the bottom (stock radio - blech!).

Another day I'll remove the old tweeters.

The beauty of the install kit was that the speaker came with a mount that adapted to the holes in the PT. I did not have to drill one hole in the metal.

On another note, getting the door cover off on the driver's side was a b!tch. I accidentially broke the door handle off the door I was pulling and pryoing to get the 8 white plastics off...

Whole job took about 4 hours. 3 hours for the first and 1 hour for the second.

My recommendation. Be patient. Get the right tools. Use this site!

Next is to get a new radio (bluetooth for the cel, usb port, and external input). Any suggestions?

Also, I have a 10" woofer in the cupboard. No enclosure. What do you recommend to locate this to not impede storage in the back?

Cheers!

Your usual sources for the dash kit - The hole is 1.5DIN or so - they make a kit with a useless little slot underneath too small for even childs fingers to make up the space.

10" JL Audio 10W3v3 - sealed box - 1.1cu ft or so - 200W Profile Amp - does it nicely.
