Default External input to factory radio

When I bought my 05 L Turbo, the previous owner had installed an XM radio with the controller on top of the dash. I removed it on Friday - while I had the radio out I noticed the input jack with markings. Has anyone attempted to connect to this and does the radio switch when an input is detected? I've tried to find a post in history that addresses this; but all are pointing to an adapter for $60 and up. Is that required? I'm surprised that an input was not part of the radio for an '05, many others were; but then again it still has a cassette player along with the CD...

Oh, my radio works much better (especially AM) after removing the XM with the FM modulator in line with the antenna lead.

AFAIK, none of the pre-2006 PTs have an AUX jack input.

The jack connector you're talking about is intented to be used with a CD changer.

Those FM modulators tend to be really really cheap and block quite a bit of signal from the antenna.

I bought one of those PIE units - can't use it because it doesn't filter out ignition noise. One very important point I found out about these units - if you don't buy from an authorized dealer, they won't honor the warranty. I got mine on Ebay and no luck getting it replaced.

THAT is correct buying from ebay is not a good idea this interfaces are update often with new software version, not authorized dealer can not do that and that is the reason why they sale it so cheap
at the end it cost more

I tried to add some ferrite cores to stop the ignition noise. Or rather, I was going to - but decided to check the system one more time. Surprise - it's now completely dead - I can't even select it as an option on the radio.
