Just picked up an 08 PT Cruiser last week and looking to replace the stereo this coming weekend, so had some questions before buying everything.
1) Does anyone have any pics of a fold up DVD receiver? Or does anyone know how much it will block the window controls? 2) Where can I purchase a receiver kit which has the slot storage directly under the receiver unit. The one from Crutchfield looks like it does not have it according to their picture (In-dash Receiver Kit Fits select 2004-up Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Mistubishi models Chassis size E at Crutchfield.com). However, I'm wondering if this may end up being better any ways since the receiver may be centred more vertically due to not having the storage underneath, therefore positioning the receiver a little lower and not block the window controls as much. 3) My PT came with the REF head unit with Sirius already installed. I'm looking at getting a Pioneer head unit which will support Sirius and getting their SiriusConnect Package (SiriusConnect Pioneer Package Get SIRIUS satellite radio reception on your Pioneer car stereo at Crutchfield.com) but will be using the original stock antenna and looks like I would need an adapter for the antenna connector as well. So my question is, with using the new Sirius tuner which will send song/artist information to the receiver, will it also show in the EVIC under the fuel/temp gauge instead of just the station name? I was not sure if the EVIC was only showing station name due to the limitation of the stock Sirius tuner not sending song/artist info, or if it was a limitation of the EVIC itself. Thanks. |

Before buying any Sirius Compatible radio I'd wait until their new recievers come out that will be able to receive signals from both the legacy Sirius Sats and the XM Sats, now that the companies are merged. Fourth quarter this year was the last estimate I saw. When the FCC cleared the way for the merger, they required dual band radios be available no later than early 2010. They also required that all-la-carte pricing be available so customers would only have to pay for the channels they want.
If you don't wait, then you will only be able to get standard Sirius channels, plus an option to purchase their pre-selected set of XM channels that are echoed on vacant Sirius channels. If you do wait, then you can select any or all channels you want to receive, based on your monthly payment. |
