Has anyone ever tried gutting out the stock Sirius antenna on the roof and putting in a newer Sirius antenna underneath it and then glue the stock one back on? Is it even possible to gut out the stock antenna? I did not want to take it off until I knew for sure it was possible. I've read some people with other cars have used the shark antenna to hide the Sirius antenna and still had decent reception. I also came across this as well (
MRK Group Ltd. - Sirius Satellite Radio Antenna Cover for Chrysler) but it looks like they don't have white in stock, which is the color of my car, and is why I was going to try this.
I also read that some people had put their antenna inside the car and it seemed to work fine, but when I tried to put it above the rear headliner, it was searching for signal too much. The reason why I was thinking of using the stock Sirius antenna housing if possible, is because the Sirius antenna that comes with their kit has the wiring coming off the end and I don't see a way of using the existing hole which was drilled without having to worry about filling in the hole since the antenna will not be covering it.
If this is a stupid idea, please just say so

I'm open to any other suggestions and am under the impression that the newer antenna would receive better reception over the older one which is why I have not gotten an adapter (even though it is much smaller, plus I just installed the new head unit and Sirius kit this weekend and too impatient to wait for an adapter). I just did not want to have two antennas on the top of my car nor have to worry about filling in the existing hole if the original was removed.
Thanks.
