If you add more power, such as an amp or aftermarket HU, then play it loud the lifespan of the stock speakers will be greatly shortened.
That's fine, but you're mostly alone in your recommendation, and to say that 'most' audio installers would agree with you is incorrect. Fact is, most common headunits that have a built-in amplifier that's 50-watts/4 channels, which works out to about 13-watts per channel. First of all, that's not enough to do the damage you're talking about, and secondly, an extra 13-watts per channel is more than noticeable when compared to the stock output and should satisfy his desire for a louder system.

And like I said, I swapped out my headunit first, and then installed a 2-channel, 100-watt amp (50RMS to each front set of speakers) on top of the 13-watt/channel from my headunit through stock speakers for almost a year and had absolutely no problems whatsoever and noticed an immediate increase in sound quality.

Thanks for the input guys. Now I have to find me a nice stereo that LOOKS good in the PT. I'm pretty picky.. I dont like it looking corny or out of place.

I want a relatively big stereo with a big screen and lots of buttons hehe

Glad you agree.

Now, for your stereo needs, I'd personally stick with Crutchfield if you're more of a DIY kinda person. I would try to stay away from places like Best Buy, unless you have a personal rapport with the installation guys there. They tend to overcharge quite a bit.

Nice part of crutchfield is that they give you all you need to change it.
